No, this is not a joke. I have come to report that the time of Infinite Life has come to an end.
Why is this happening?
I'll re-post a quote I have told the staff team to help further explain the reasoning behind this:
"So I'll be flat out honest when I say that I haven't been as interested or motivated to work with IT like I used to. I haven't touched the update in forever, and soon I'm going to be traveling to see some family, and dragging my laptop along so the server will be down in that amount of time.
I haven't been entirely sure about what I feel like doing with IL.
I've just been so pre-occupied now that this will be my final year before I graduate, and I'm not even sure where I want to live or what I want to do.
By all means I know that education is more important,
and IL's activity has been lacking. Even server-wise. [There are only one or two active members when we have 700+ on the forum.]
I just feel like IL is so behind in so much, while there are those that have leveling and experience and armor and quests... That's what the IT community is most interested in these days, sadly. Instead of valuing that of a nice community and open minds, they go for the newest unique items found only on that server or to work a little harder to level up.
While yes, there is always the commission, I still haven't heard back, and I started to wonder if the money to be put towards the commission would be worth it at this point or to save it for something better later on.
It's none of your faults. There were those of you that offered to help and I naturally declined because I'm stubborn and like to do everything myself. Right now I'm just stuck in a ridge where I'm not sure as to whether to keep trying to keep the server alive and active, or to revert to something else."
So that about sums it up.
I'm deeply sorry to those who have helped IL develop - Your contributions will not go to waste, but will be saved for any future purpose that may appear whenever I may feel that spark again to start something - but at this moment, I don't think that will be for a long time.
Please know that there is/was nothing you could do to change my mind - I'm just not as interested in IT anymore, and so with that comes the lack of interest in running a server.
What will happen now?
I will be locking down the forum. All boards, threads, categories, pages, WIPs etc. will be hidden away. As for the server - it will remain offline from this point on. Staff will be left with their powers if they still wish to wander about.
Can I please use _____ from Infinite Life for my server/site?
Anything that's exclusive to IL - labels, info, rules, etc to be directly used/copy & pasted is not allowed.

(It's not exactly a compliment in knowing that others have taken your content and spread it across their communities in use.)
